Trip to Chicago: at the airport

I made it through customs and security in good time. Although the airport is crowded, my path was unobstructed. I packed all my liquids and gells in my luggage and checked it. Fortunately I am able to take my PC, reading material and pens on board. Pens don’t seem subject to the liquid/gell controls.

The good news is that I got out of a meeting in Cleveland. I’m told it is known as the city hosting the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

I thought of it as the land of cleaves. When it was first established in 1796 it was spelt Cleaveland. The spelling changed in the 1830s, apparently to allow the city name to fit on the banner of a local newspaper.

Cleave: 1. To split with or as if with a sharp instrument. 2. To make or accomplish by or as if by cutting: cleave a path through the ice. 3. To pierce or penetrate: The wings cleaved the foggy air. 4. Chemistry. To split (a complex molecule) into simpler molecules.
v. intr.1. Mineralogy. To split or separate, especially along a natural line of division. 2. To penetrate or pass through something, such as water or air.

Oddly, the definition seems to fit the capabilities of one Cleaver I know.

I presume in the Land of Cleave I would meet a lot of Cleavers. Might be better than the Hall of Fame.
