I recently upgraded my home network to more current technology. I now have a giga bit intranet.
Speedtest.net provides a tool to measure bandwidth. They report a download speed of 6,616 kb/s and an upload speed of 480 kb/s with 37ms latency (note: over several test runs the speed stayed fairly constant, but the latency varied quite a bit)
This compares favorably to my previous router which clocked in at a download speed of 2,903 kb/s with a 72 ms latency [1]
