Niagara Mini-vacation: The Maid of the Mist

in

I don’t remember much from my first visit to Niagara Falls in 1957.  But other than that time I think I can say I’ve never been on the Maid of the Mist, the boat that tours into the mist of the Falls.  So our mission was to remedy the situation.

From above, the Falls are impressive; from river-level they are awe-inspiring.

Photography is a challenge. First there is the mist, which renders automatic focus unworkable and manual focus just as difficult.   Second, there is the mist which gets everything wet.  I had my camera gear protected, but still, the lens was exposed and needed to be wiped regularly.  Third, the wind which blew my rain coat open, which resulted in my attention be diverted form my primary goal.
