Today’s entry presents variations on a theme, or more specifically each picture below is a different crop of the same original shot. What is interesting, in my mind, is how different each variation is. As an aside, it offers some justification for high mega-pixel count to enable various different crops without loosing too much detail.
As before the black and white images have a split tone layer applied.
The first shot is the original, uncropped version.
Again, I shot wide open and got in as close as I could to create the very shallow depth of field (the lens has a minimum focus distance of about 1m). The 1:1 crop below gives an indication of shallowness of the area in focus. Note how the eyes are in focus, while the model’s hair on the right and over her forehead is soft.
In these colour images I moved away from my usual colour-softening technique. In the first version I bumped up the Contrast and lowered the Saturation slider deep into negative territory. However, I did maintain the high-key theme.
In this last colour crop I layered higher contrast and saturation on top of a high-key foundation. I also threw in some split toning.
