Gooderham Building

A classic building that continues to survive in downtown Toronto as it’s neighbouring buildings get replaced.  In the background rise towers in the financial district.

I took this shot at 6:21 AM on August 25th.  Dawn that day was between 6:02 and 6:32AM.  The sun had not risen high enough to hit the buildings.  As can been seen the street lights are still on.  The photograph is a composition of 5 shots with exposures ranging between 2 and 4 seconds.

I processed the image, first with  Nik HDR Efex Pro 2 and then with Lightroom.  I tend to incorporate some “HDR Effect” (e.g., saturation, detail extraction) as it gives a bit of a cartoon effect, especially on the bricks.  Personal taste often influenced by mood.

Lightroom processing was largely cropping and straightening the shot (i.e., getting the angles right).
