The architecture of a city expresses something about the people, the culture, the thinking. The style they build, the diversity, what they keep and what you don’t see (that has been replaced.) Friedrich Nietzsche put it this way:
In architecture the pride of man, his triumph over gravitation, his will to power, assume a visible form. Architecture is a sort of oratory of power by means of forms.
