St. John of Nepomuk

The statue of St. John of Nepomuk (also known as St. Nepomuk), the patron saint of bridges, was originally located on the “Scherbrücke,” a bridge that crossed over the Lauter River. The statue, created at the beginning of the 18th century, now stands at the entrance to St. Martin’s Church, which was built in the early 14th century as a Franciscan Monastery church established by King Rudolf of Habsburg. The Lauter River, which the statue once overlooked, now flows through subterranean channels beneath the city[4].
