I arrived home this evening and cast my eyes upon the new thermostat. With its 6cm high display and 2.5cm high characters I was able to read it from the front door. It reported 70F.
While we do live in a metric country I chose to have the temperature set in Fahrenheit. Why? More precision, and as I admitted in an earlier post, precision is essential to my character. Using the Fahrenheit scale I can more precisely set the temperature than I can with the Celcius scale as one Celsius degree is almost two Fahrenheit degrees. That 0.5 Celsius degree of added granularity is a noticeable difference: one between perfect comfort and merely satisfactory comfort.
