Humour: Christmas Lights

I put up my lights over the weekend. An annual ritual that brings back many fond memories of past Christmases as well as continuing a long tradition, which I hope will be passed through to my children. This year, being particularly engaged and some might say overwhelmed with Christmas spirit, I did an extra-special job [1] .

I think the success of this year’s set up is reflected in the response from my neighbours, who each evening pay homage to the lights by standing in front of my house offering words of support and encouragement. Some have even sent me gifts. Even those who normally don’t have a lot of free time have driven by and thrown various offerings; I assume that the rocks are symbolic of pieces of coal (which in these days is hard to come by) representing the warmth of the season.
