It may not be surprising that President Bush received the honours this year as the butt of more jokes than his contemporaries; that such metrics are kept may be the more interesting point.

The Center for Media and Public Affairs (CMPA) counts the jokes told on four popular late-night television programs: Late Night with David Letterman; the Tonight Show; The Daily Show and; Late Night with Conan O’Brian.
