To Do Lists

in

A colleague uses little yellow stickies, attached to her PC screen to keep track of her to-do list. I use Outlook, that fine product from Microsoft. Both offer that sense of satisfaction one gets in recording the to-do. Recording one’s to-do’s is key in being effective; as well it provides its own sense of satisfaction; it offers a sense of progress towards completion. However, the postit notes remain quite literally in your face until you complete them. This creates a sense of actually having to do something, resulting in increased anxiety. On the other hand, a to-do list in Outlook hides the little buggers, so once recorded they can be forgotten, quite often forever.

On a practical note, postit notes are fine for small scale problems, but for me it would become unmanageable. Something like what you see in the picture.
