The day started off well enough. It rained through the night but by light it had stopped. I looked out our room window onto what looked like a river of clouds drifting through the valley below. Later the river of clouds overflowed the valley and delivered us rain. We moved on to our 9:30 tee time and for a while it looked promising. But after 9 holes we called it quits. We were given a rain cheque. We’ll try to play on our way back home.
Regardless of the weather the Sugarloaf Golf Course was able to show its grandeur. Golf Digest rates this the #1 course in Maine.
We had dinner at the Porterhouse, in Eustis Maine. An up-scale restaurant, in a renovated farm house, with mid-range prices. Linda and I had a great dinner for $50.00. An elderly couple sat at the table next to us. They live about an hour a way, but they come for dinner every Thursday. They drive a Passat. Obviously people of good character and judgment.
