We selected a TV: the Panasonic LX60C. It was a close call between this and the Sony Bravia XBR but in the end it was hard to see a difference that explained more than a one thousand dollar price variance. While Consumers Reports gave the Sony a higher overall rating, they both received the same marks for picture and sound quality. The Panasonic lost marks on usability of its menus and the remote. As we will be getting an HDPVR (with a remote), the functionality of the TV itself become irrelevant; it basically becomes a monitor.
