Dual Purpose

in

The macro lens I received yesterday actually comes in two parts: the lens proper and an extender element. The extender has no glass; it’s only purpose is to move the lens away from the sensor.

Without the matching Macro Lens Adapter AR, the lens can be focused down to 0.25 m (97/8″). At this distance a maximum magnification ratio of 1:2 is achieved. Together with the matching extension ring, a minimum focusing distance of 22.2 cm (83/4″) with a maximum magnification ratio of 1:1 can be achieved – the image on the film has the same size as the subject in reality.[1]

In this shot I used my regular Konica 135mm f/3.2 lens with the Macro extender. It does provide some enlargement effect. Here I was able to get closer to the subject than without the extender, may be around 0.5M
