I was hoping to catch some early morning frost, but while it was below freezing, none was to be found. So into the woods at Huntington Park I went. It was dark and erie; there were noises that weren’t the wind.

I shot this 50 minutes before sunrise, with a 40 second exposure. The light on the trees comes from nearby city lights and probably the soon-to-rise sun. With the post-processing I was able to find a setting that darkened the sky so it came out to be a little more night-like. I was able to lighten up the foreground to provide a little texture on the ground.
