I’ll confess to having acquired some new camera equipment. I have started posting a few shots, and while I expect it will take a little while to become full conversant with the equipment, I already see the improved quality that comes with a full-sized sensor. The ease in separating the subject from the background is spectacular; this is in part a result of the larger sensor and the lenses.

While I acted on the purchase quite quickly; the decision was one that has been in plan for nearly five years. Over this timeframe as I have been developing my skills I have been matching the technology accordingly. In the last few months I concluded that I would prefer to move to a camera with a full-sized sensor rather than one of the cropped models. The physical size and weight of the body and associated lenses became the next consideration.
While there are a few surprises, they are positive, and I’ll try to cover them over the next few days or weeks.
