When the lens is focused to the hyperfocal distance, the depth of field extends from half the hyperfocal distance to infinity [1]. Landscape photographers use this feature to get the maximum depth of field. I applied this to street photography, where spending time focusing isn’t really an option. To make this concept more tangible, I mounted my 28mm, set the aperture to f/8 and focused the lens to 3.3 meters. With this everything from about 1.5 meters to infinity was in focus. Stopping down to f/8 implies some level of light.

However, not even focusing on the the hyperfocal distance can deal with blur.
