Accomplishments

Filed under the category of accomplishments is the climb to The Towers (Torres del Paine).  Round trip it was 18km from the hotel, with an elevation change of about 750 meters.  For the most part the trail is well-defined and maintained.  The bulk of the elevation change is reserved for the last 1 km and many parts of that portion of the trail are difficult to walk.  For example, the last several hundred meters traverse a rocky terrane seen in the picture below.  What ever triumph there may be in the photograph, it is out done by that of just getting in position to take the shot.
