I took this shot at 7:47 AM on September 1st.  Dawn that day was between 6:10 and 6:40AM.  The sun was starting to hit the reeds on the other side of the pond, as can be seen by the the light and dark areas.  The photograph is a composition of 7 shots with exposures ranging between 1/125 and 1/2 seconds.

I processed the image, first with  Nik HDR Efex and then with Nik Silver Efex Pro.  The HDR processing was largely around exposing a fuller dynamic range to cover the ranger from light to dark. Silver Efex was used to convert to Black and White.  I processed the image in to pull out the details because in my mind that does two things: in the grasses it brings out the texture; in the water it offers the sense of stillness.  It was a windless morning.
