At this beach on April 27 1813 at 10:00 AM began the Battle of York when American forces landed here and subsequently took the fort, Fort York, and looted the town of York, capital of Upper Canada, present day Toronto.
The water was still the morning of April 27, 2013; there were rowers on the lake but no sign of battle ships.
