Primeval Lands

I’ve already had a few posts on the topic of Louisiana Swamps (Cypress Trees,Barred Owl , Swamp). I expect this is the last one including shots taken on Lake Martin, near Lafayette Louisiana.  

All but one of my pictures is presented in black and white (Swamp is the exception).  To me the swamps felt like a place from another world and another time. Black and white provides a level of separation from a reality that is coloured and to me encourages a primeval feel.  

This first shot above provides incredible detail and depth of field helping to bring this primeval scene out of the past to a reality in now.

In this second shot I wanted to have the Spanish Moss backlit to make visible the texture and patterns of this plant.  The challenge was to then also maintain the detail in the trees and other elements of the shot.  The Barred Owl is visible in the top right quadrant of the picture.
