The Scope of Work

in

The floor plan below offers a sense of the scope of work being done.  Each room on the main floor as well as the upstairs hall is being painted: walls, ceiling, trim.  In addition the areas in green are to be re-floored.  The Powder Room will get new tiles and a new vanity as well.

To this point, 3 days in, the walls and ceilings have been painted (including the upstairs hallway), the vanity removed from the Powder Room and new moulding installed in the Living Room, Den and Hall.

Progress seems good; it seems to me they should complete before the three weeks they had estimated. If they can that will be great. The workmen arrive each morning at 9:00AM and work until 7:00PM. As well, there’s dust everywhere (except in the Herthabunker), which only adds to the stress of the situation.

I’m glad I sealed the piano and the bookshelves.  Yet, I think we will need to do a thorough cleanup of the house, top to bottom, after the work is done.  Spring cleaning.

A challenge has emerged with the installation of the new sink in the powder room; more on this later when I confirm the solution.  Finally, after 30 years as an architect, I get some useful (to me)  application of my experience.
