Commercial fisheries still exist, they just don’t catch cod, or those ones offshore of Newfoundland. They catch crab, shrimp, herring, sardines, squid, lobster, and I don’t know what else.
The boat in the picture below was docked the whole month of August. I asked my neighbour whether the boat was in use. He replied it was; they fish for crab and shrimp but as they ha caught their limit there had to stop and return to port. No more fishing for them this year.
