It was a spur of the moment thing. I bought a bird feeder. It’s not the first time. I have set up such contraptions many times previously, filled them once or twice, and then abandoned them. The usual cause was squirrels; they ate more of the feed than did the birds.
This time, however, I have bought stackable “seed cylinders” — three varieties — impregnated with hot peppers that are said to keep the squirrels away. My feeder has been up for two weeks now, and as far as I can tell, there has been not a single squirrel eating at the feeder. Nor has there been a bird.
I am told it may take a few weeks for the birds to discover this, my most recent offering.
