March 12, 2020

At 5:30AM on March 12, last year, we landed at Pearson (YYZ) and disembarked Air Canada flight 1807 from San José, Costa Rica. The following day, Friday March 13th, we went to Costco, stocked up on food, and entered into voluntary quarantine.

Over the last year, that initial quarantine has been relaxed slightly to a lockdown imposed to varying degrees, however we have remained largely home bound. Most of our outings have been to the grocery store and when possible to visit our daughter, son-in-law and granddaughter. Most of our interaction with friends and other family members has been through FaceTime and Zoom. I do bicycle in the area, and my wife and I walk on a regular basis.

Looking out on to the backyard, through the screen door. Warmth heralds the coming Spring, patches of snow remind us we’re not through the winter … yet

Over the year I’ve made several posts, but now after a long winter, both Spring is in the air as is an end to the pandemic that will come with vaccines. There is hope.
