It is sometimes interesting to look back and review what you’ve done. The table below does this for my photography, covering the last five years. Interestingly, it shows clearly the impact of COVID on the volume of my photography, and a gradual recovery.
Year | Total | GFX | Leica | iPhone | Film |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
2023 | 9136 | 3928 | 3073 | 1137 | 16 |
2022 | 9042 | 6342 | 1480 | 543 | – |
2021 | 8558 | – | 7327 | 540 | 283 |
2020 | 17019 | – | 15868 | 610 | 19 |
2019 | 21667 | – | 18756 | 2443 | 364 |
Travel accounts for a large portion of my photography, and as COVID limited that enterprise, picture taking was reduced. While 2020, the first year of COVID seems on-track to be a normal year, by the time the disease hit in March, we had already taken two trips, the first to Dubai and the second to Costa Rica. The volume of activity for 2021 and 2022 tells a truer story.
2023 continued the modest increase, reflecting a bit more travel, albeit all within Canada, and much of it local. We’ll see how 2024 bears up.
