This is Thanksgiving day, and Bill says that by a quirk of timing he had two Thanksgiving dinners! He then describes the mess hall procedures. The start of basic training has been delayed until the company fills up, so they have been doing “busy work.”

Bill talks about enjoying a Thanksgiving dinner. He’s says he’s thankful for being alive and well, that the campaign hasn’t been as bad as the bivouacs in Camp Roberts, there hasn’t been much marching, on the day he writes, the sun came out and their foxhole has remained dry.
