    We visited Curaçao for one week starting January 24th, 2016.  We stayed with my brother and sister-in-law in Jan Thiel, just south-east of Willemstad.

  • Flamingos

    Along Kaminda San Willibrordus Road is a small shallow lake which is home to hundreds of Flamingos.  We parked on the side of the road and walked along the edge of the lake.  

  • The Shore

    One evening in Curaçao, we had dinner at the Shore Restaurant.  We arrived to enjoy the setting sun.  We had a table on the patio.

  • Fort Nassau

    Unlike Beekenburg, this Fort is well maintained and used.  It provides a wide view of the area, including the Port at Willemstad, and a very nice restaurant.  We only briefly walked around the ramparts of the Fort, preferring to spend time in the restaurant for lunch.  We sat on the covered patio to enjoy the…

    The Fort is located in Jan Thiel; entrance is free. The Fort itself is small but it offers a modest view, better if one climbs inside steps to the top of the tower. It is ranked #37 of 96 things to do in Willemstad by Tripadvisor.ca.   I have a romantic view of forts and…
