    Linda and I had made a canoe/camping trip starting at Canoe lake some 25 years ago. Except rather than go towards Tom Thompson Lake, we turned left after the portage towards Little Joe lake. The portage was only 300 meters long, and it was a wide and well maintained trail.

    The primary attraction was to see and photograph some moose. The challenges of camping, weather, and bugs were distant thoughts. They however came rushing forward as we stood on the beach of Canoe Lake. But, to be fair, we did see moose, and so our objective was met.
