Bill opens his letter with “Komosta Ka!” meaning “How are you?” He then goes on to describe the Filipinos for his parents and brother, and their allegiance to the United States. Bill changes subject to mention letters from his Uncle Rudi (his mother’s brother, who lived in the United States at the time). He notes his disagreement with the views of his uncle, but does not explain what those views are. He also notes that he gets his cloths laundered by the Filipinos for 30 centavos1.
