Is Human kindness a weapon in electoral conflict? I used to scoff at American’s focus on the character of the individual politician in preference to their policy. Since Trump, my views have changed.
It appears, from personal observation, that regardless of the stated policy, whether it will be implemented depends not only on getting government / opposition support, but on the character — honesty — of the individual to define legislation that lives up to the policy intent. One of character will do so; one who lacks, will bend the outcome towards their own personal or political advantage.
Human kindness appears to be the name being attached to the Democrats’ strategy. I’d go a step further: it is about human dignity.
