Going South

Linda and I are off to Miami. Many years ago, one had to remember to bring the tickets to the airport. As I prepare for our departure today I recall the advent of the electronic ticket and how it removed the need to bring a physical piece of paper (the ticket) with you. An advance: paper reduction; one less thing to remember. Yet, one still needed to tag luggage and get a boarding pass. Then came the kiosk that issues the boarding pass, although you still need to take that piece of paper over to the desk and check in luggage. Recently many airlines have allowed passengers to print their boarding passes at home. Makes sense, whether that piece of paper is printed by a kiosk in front of the check-in desk or at home does not really matter. Yet now I find myself back to where I was 20 years ago needing to remember to bring a piece of paper.
