The Park Tour

in
Alligator in Everglades

Our plan for today was to explore the area east of Key Largo. According to the map there is an alligator reserve and a botanical garden. It didn’t quite work out as expected; nothing open to the public. We ended up visiting John Pennekamp Coral Reef park. This was the first underwater park in the US.

After leaving this park we drove up to the Everglades National Park. We went to the Royal Palm station and walked both the Anhinga and Gumbo Limbo Trails. The former was by far the more impressive as a result of all the wild life. It was really unbelievable how populated it was with fish, birds, and alligators.
