Climbing Torres del Payne

I’m not sure that the Towers look so great up close, especially in the mid-day light; they certainly look magnificent from a distance. However,  it was getting this shot the was the triumph.  To get to this place to take the shot required a 9km hike across the various terrains a mountain can offer with an elevation change of over 700 meters.  We walked through forests, traversed streams, narrow paths along deep gorges and finally across massive shards of rock.  And then there was the return. In total we walked 18 kms and in about 10 hours.

I can be happy that I did get the shot as within an hour of the shot the area was covered in clouds with an ensuing downpour.
