Morens Glacier

in

About 80 kms from El Calafate is the Morens Glacier, located in Los Glaciares National Park.  Unlike the Columbia ice fields in Canada, these ones are at equilibrium; neither growing nor shrinking.  I didn’t know exactly what to expect, beyond a lot of ice.  The tour was very good and the site is well established.  We took a boat ride up to within about 200 meters of the glaciers edge and following that we walked along the board walk. As there are regular ice falls into the lake, getting any closer is risky business.

The boardwalk is an extensive network of some 4 kms of raised pathways that takes you along the glaciers edge.  An easy walk with lots to see.
