Ten Years After

On our way to Monument Valley we stopped off at the Navajo National Monument to see the ruins of an Ancient Pueblo People Village. Until recently these people were commonly known as the Anasazi but this is actually a Navajo term meaning ancient enemy.  One of our Navajo guides suggested the term was more derogatory.  

Here, and in most other places we visited today, the flags flew at half mast.

In memory of the tragic death of over two thousand people, the thousands killed and wounded trying to rectify the situation and the loss of liberty for all … in the name of safety.
