This and the next two days will be driving days. Our goal is to get to Sydney Nova Scotia by June 2 to catch the ferry to Port Aux Basques, Newfoundland.
It is about 1600 km from Ottawa to Sydney. Today we drove just over 500 km to reach Saint-Jean-Port-Joli. A cute little town located on the south shore of the St. Lawrence River.
We had dinner in a little brassiere, Café Bistro OK, that turned out to be surprisingly good. When we entered, I was reluctant to stay. As we looked at the confusing menu I thought we should stay for a beer and leave. But the overhead of changing restaurants seemed too daunting after a 5+ hour drive. So we stayed and ordered. I had quail on a bed of ravioli stuffed with wild mushrooms; Linda had a thin-crust pizza; my Dad had a pasta dish served with scallops. All dished surpassed expectations.
We are staying in a little Inn near the village run by a couple. She is a photographer; he is an artist. They built the place themselves. The building seems models on a French Provincial Architectural style. The rooms are large and clean; the Inn is quiet.
Next stop, Fredericton New Brunswick.
