It had been our intention yesterday to drive only to Fredericton New Brunswick but as fate would have it I couldn’t find a hotel to our exacting specifications. There was one however in Moncton. So the extra hour or so we spent driving to Moncton will now be available to us to tour Sydney Nova Scotia as we wait for the 11 PM ferry departure for Port aux Basques.

With a couple of side tours into Kamouraska and Rivière du Loup along the Fleuve St. Laurent, we arrived in Moncton.  A bellhop graciously helped us bring our 500 kg of luggage up to the rooms.  Although short, he (the bell hop) was stocky.  After settling in we moseyed  down to the in-house restaurant.  A fabulous choice; easy to get to; easy to return from and the food was mostly good (although my pheasant was a bit dry).  After dinner we walked along the shoreline of the Petitcodiac River amid the red-shifting rays of light.  Aside from a few irritating cyclists racing along the pedestrian path, it was cool and refreshing. Best of all I added some 4000 steps to my daily total.

Soup de Jour.
