The pandemic has spawned all sorts of behavioural responses. Cooking and baking are ones widely picked up. This was evidenced earlier in the year by shortages of flour as the mass of society picked up bread-making. We were not immune to that trend.

I have been cooking for many years (see my recipes) but what has changed is an inclination for fresh herbs. To make a long story short, this has prompted me to buy an indoor garden (as the temperature hovers around -8C at this time, an out door option seems unworkable). After 11 days, 7 of the 9 pods have sprouted.

The garden includes:

  • Thyme
  • Chives
  • Thai Basil
  • Dill
  • Italian Parsley
  • 2 Genovese Basils (I see a lot of pesto in my future)
  • Curley Parsley
  • Mint

It is the last two that remain un-sprouted.
