I am now on facebook. More as an experiment; I’m not quite sure about it.
It provides a [human] networking capability as well as applications. On the network side, I already have a wide variety of communications vehicles available to me (e-mail, VoIP, Telephone, IM, Blog) and this seems to be just another. The applications it offers include photo hosting, events and others. As well facebook offers the means for third-parties to develop their own applications. In this sense, facebook becomes a hosting platform, some might say like a web OS.
I’m sure something magic will happen when this combination reaches some critical mass.
We’ll see how it goes. I get board easily.
