We departed port at Ventura at about 8:00 AM and arrived at Santa Cruz Island at about 9:00AM. After receiving a mandatory lecture on park safety and etiquette we started our hike. During our visit to Santa Cruz we walked about 8 miles. The first stretch of our walk was along Smugglers Road on the way to Smuggler’s Cove. Many of the paths traverse the tops of the hills making the beginning a bit of a climb.
