Linda got a new PC; an HP Touch Smart.

Overall, it’s a nice machine. It comes with Windows 7, which is better in many respects than XP.

The machine’s design is very similar to the Apple Desktop; a single unit with a wireless mouse and keyboard. While it took less than 20 minutes to set up–and most of that time was spent unpeeling the plastic wrapping protecting the housing–migrating existing data, downloading updates, and software setup took the bulk of the remaining 4 hours.  Fortunately a migration assistant is provided that enables a network link to be established between the old and new machine.  If this tool had not be provided transferring over the several gigabytes of files would be been much more cumbersome.
