I guess I’ve become a collector. A collector of World Heritage sites. I don’t really go out of my way to visit them, but if there is one near a destination I already have in plan then I’ll go. On this trip there were three: Los Glaciares in Argentina, The Churches of Chiloe and The Historic Quarter of the Seaport of Valparaiso, both in Chile.
It is possible to see the Glaciers from a boardwalk or by boat; either way is a treat (see my earlier posting).

The Churches are, well mostly wooden structures. Simple in design; functional in nature. I think what can be said about them is they are dramatically less ostentatious than the typical Cathedral.

The Seaport is a mildly grungy place. The ladies much preferred Vina del Mar as it is more modern, the streets are clean and there is more suitable shopping. My preference for Valparaiso was derived from the interesting photographic opportunities.
