Savannah National Wildlife Reserve

Another day on our bicycles.    The area was previously a rice farm, now over run with various wetland plants and grasses, with the occasional hammock hosting pines and oak trees.  The former offers a habitat for various water fowl; the latter proving a place for song birds.

To the south of highway 17 is a four mile drivable route through the marsh; to the north are hiking-biking trails. Each take advantage of the levies used to manage the water for rice production. Now they provide straight and flat biking trails.
