24 Minutes

Soon we will join the majority of Canadians who receive their mail in Community Mailboxes rather than home delivery. It will be nice to rejoin the majority.

This process has been going on for some time.  Yesterday the Community Mailbox was installed.  It will be located next door to us in the Park.  From start to finish it took 24 minutes to setup and install.  Talk about Express Post!

There have been complaints about this change in service. Some cities are presenting regulatory blocks. I have no real concerns and note a couple of advantages.  First,  relates to parcel delivery.  Currently if a parcel is delivered that does not fit in our box, and no one is at home, a chit is left and I have to drive down to the post office to retrieve the parcel.  As I buy more things online this problem  presents itself more frequently. Second, out-going mail can be left in the Community Mailbox; no more searching for a mail box or again driving down to the pot office.

I’m not sure what I’ll do with the mailbox at the house.  I’ll leave it there for a while and see what sort of attention it attracts. May be it will turn into a home design feature offering some historical context yet without practical use.
