Reporting on the speed of mail delivery, Bill notes that the most recent letter took just 9 days.

Again, he says there is little to write about. He then complains that their beer ration, which had been cut to 3 bottle per week, was now cut all together (no doubt related to the up-coming mission).

After a discussion on bridge he asked how “Bubi’s” driving examination went. Bubi is the nickname for my father, and is the German word for “little boy”. When I was a little boy in the 1950s/60s, I recall my father being called Bubi by some of my grandparent old friends. Bill recalls his poor driving skills, which reminds me of my mother’s comments about Dad nearly failing the British Columbia driving test when we moved there in the 1950s.
